You know, I recently came across an interesting post on X and realized that few people know about the existence of Kimball Musk. Yes, Elon’s brother. And this is despite the fact that he clearly has his own opinions and isn’t afraid to express them.
Kimball Musk, who is already 52 years old, posted a rather sharp critique of Trump a few days ago. The essence of his post was that the president, under the guise of a tariff strategy, actually introduced a hidden tax on American consumers. Interestingly, he criticized not only the policy but also indirectly touched on his brother Elon, who is known to be quite close to the current administration.
What’s interesting is that Kimball Musk owns a fortune of about $700 million, although most of this wealth comes from his stake in Tesla — just 0.04% of the shares. Not the largest share, but enough to ensure a comfortable life. Despite the criticism, the brothers seem to remain on good terms — family is family.
In terms of appearance, both brothers have a clear resemblance. Both were born in Pretoria, with the same square jawline, straight nose, and green eyes. However, if Elon is recognized for his innovations and ambitions, Kimball Musk is easily identified by his signature accessory — a cowboy hat, which he almost always wears.
An interesting detail: both brothers hold South African, Canadian, and American citizenship. This is the result of their family going through tough times. Along with their younger sister Tosca, who is now 50, they faced family violence from their father, which led to their mother Mai’s divorce in 1979. After that, the family emigrated first to Canada, then to the US.
Few remember that both brothers started out together. They founded the startup Zip2, which provided business software for the internet. In 1999, they sold this company to Compaq for $307 million. It was their first major deal, after which their paths diverged. Kimball Musk chose a calmer path, engaging in philanthropy and environmental protection, while Elon continued to create revolutionary companies. Interestingly, Kimball Musk still remains active on social media and isn’t afraid to voice his opinions on current issues.
