Qingming Holiday Shaanxi Consumer Market Highlights Continue to Shine
On April 6, a reporter learned from the provincial Department of Commerce: during the Qingming holiday, Shaanxi’s consumer market grew steadily, consumer-promotion activities were rich and varied, and trade-in initiatives continued to be pushed forward. Data from the Ministry of Commerce on market monitoring show that across the province, 570 catering and retail sample enterprises recorded sales of 565 million yuan, up 3.69% year over year.
Among them, catering enterprises’ revenue was 36.8882 million yuan, up 13.44% year over year; revenues of dine-in and takeaway (delivery) enterprises grew 12.87% and 22.54% year over year, respectively.
Retail sales of goods totaled 528 million yuan, up 3.6% year over year. Of the 20 categories of goods, 13 achieved positive growth; sales of Sinopec Xi’an Branch, Yanchang Petroleum Yanan Company, Xi’an Laochenggen, and Xi’an Tangjiu Convenience retail (stores) increased by 34.52%, 29.32%, 23.82%, and 13.54%, respectively.
Consumer-promotion activities were rich and varied. During the Qingming holiday, locations across the province carried out a variety of promotional activities around the theme “Shop in China · Shaanxi Bright Life.” Xi’an held the “Spring Charm Revives · Flower-Lit Chang’an” flower-viewing and spring outing season, creating an integrated scenario of “flower viewing + spring outings + consumption.” Baoji hosted the 45th “Lily Cup” table tennis league to promote integrated development of “sports + consumption.” Xianyang launched and upgraded its third phase of the prize-winning invoice campaign, with daily bonus funds of 1 million yuan and a winning rate of 80%. Yan’an’s “Qingming Spring Festival Garden Party” introduced the large-scale historical stage play 《Yan’an Childcare Institute》, tapping the potential for red tourism consumption. Yulin held activities such as non-heritage fire pot casting iron and science physics show performances, creating new consumption scenarios enabled by tech and featuring the trend of national style and Chinese aesthetics. Hanzhong’s rape-flower festival offered 15 premium flower-viewing routes and 35 premium flower-viewing spots, innovatively hosting seven major categories of themed activities totaling 72 items, including cultural experience and consumption promotion. Ankang organized large shopping malls to offer incentives such as exclusive in-store purchase events, step-by-step full-reduction discounts, bundle purchases with immediate returns, and time-limited special offers, driving year-over-year growth of more than 70% in sales of home appliances and audio equipment. Shangluo held a local特色特色 cuisine contest (local specialty food contest), with catering revenue growing by more than 20%.
Trade-in for upgrades continued to be promoted. “We guided each locality to increase subsidies for trading in used consumer goods for new ones, tilting support toward offline businesses and rural areas. During the Qingming holiday, the province applied for 48,913 units in total for automobiles, home appliances, and 3C digital products, bringing 333.6895 million yuan in consumption. Among them, 176 vehicles were scrapped and replaced, driving 22.6616 million yuan in consumption; 808 vehicles were traded in and updated, driving 140.84M yuan in consumption; 20,674 home appliances were traded in for new ones, driving 92.79M yuan in consumption; and 27,255 new purchases of 3C digital products drove 77.4M yuan in consumption.” a relevant official from the provincial Department of Commerce said.
