Qingming Holiday: Hainan inbound and outbound passenger flow increased by 25% year-on-year

This year during the Qingming Festival holiday, overseas Chinese expatriates and fellow compatriots from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan returning home to pay respects to their ancestors saw a significant increase in passenger flow, and Hainan’s three major air ports welcomed a peak in inbound and outbound passenger and vehicle traffic. A reporter learned from the Haikou Entry and Exit Frontier Inspection Station that, as of 17:00 on April 6, Hainan’s border inspection authorities had cleared a total of 223 inbound and outbound means of transport (aircraft/vessels) and 27,000 inbound and outbound passengers, representing increases of 32.7% and 25%, respectively, compared with the same period last year. It was reported that during the Qingming Festival holiday, the Haikou Meilan International Airport checkpoint handled 14,000 inbound and outbound personnel, up 24.6% year over year; the Sanya Phoenix International Airport checkpoint handled 12,000 inbound and outbound personnel, up 24.4% year over year. The main countries of origin for inbound travelers include Singapore, Malaysia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and others. The main destinations for outbound travelers include Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong, China, among other countries and regions. (CCTV News)
