Cheung Kong's Panama port company officially initiates arbitration proceedings against Maersk

On April 7, a statement released by the Panama port company, which is under Hong Kong’s CK Hutchison Holdings Limited, said that it has officially initiated arbitration proceedings against the Maersk Group regarding subsequent developments after the takeover of the container terminal of the Panama port company. The company said that the arbitration proceedings initiated against Maersk will take place in London. The Panama port company is seeking compensation from Maersk, and that claim is independent of—and does not affect—the ongoing pursuit actions that the Panama port company continues to take against the Panama government for the government’s breach of contract and harm to investors’ rights and interests.
