Been looking into small-cap value funds lately and found three that actually caught my attention. Nuveen Small Cap Value Opportunities Fund, Goldman Sachs Small Cap Value Insights, and Bridgeway Omni Small-Cap Value Fund all have solid track records. The Nuveen fund pulled in 14.2% annualized returns over three years, which isn't bad at all. Goldman Sachs came in at 12.8% with a 1.2% expense ratio, and Bridgeway hit 10.5%. So if you're thinking about top small cap mutual funds for diversification, these are worth researching.

What I found interesting is how they actually work - they're investing in companies with market caps under $2 billion, which means there's real growth potential even though they're smaller players. The Nuveen fund had 63 holdings as of last fall, with their biggest position being like 3% in Seacoast Banking. These funds also dabble in foreign stocks, which adds another layer of diversification. They're definitely not just picking random companies - there's actual value investing strategy behind them.

The thing about top small cap mutual funds is they're riskier than large-cap stuff, but that's kind of the point if you want growth. Not sure if I'm ready to commit yet, but the three-year performance numbers are making me think harder about it. Anyone here actually holding any of these?
