Year-over-year growth! Great Wall Motors' March sales figures are out
On April 1, Great Wall Motor officially released its March 2026 production and sales quick report, as well as its first-quarter 2026 production and sales quick report to the public. The data shows that in March, Great Wall Motor sold 106,198 vehicles, up 8.38% year over year. Of these, new energy vehicle sales were 21,857 units, and overseas sales were 47,142 units. As of the end of March, the company’s cumulative sales for the first quarter totaled 269,104 vehicles, up 4.79% year over year. Of these, new energy vehicle sales were 52,630 units, and overseas sales were 130,095 units.
At present, Great Wall Motor has five brands under its umbrella: Haval, WEY, Tank, Ora, and Great Wall Pickup. Judging from the sales data, in March, apart from the Ora brand, all other brands achieved year-over-year growth. In March, Ora brand sales were 2,529 vehicles, down 8.90% year over year; its cumulative sales for the first quarter were 5,849 vehicles, down 14.82% year over year. Ora’s vehicles currently on sale include Ora Good Cat, Ballet Cat, Lightning Cat, and Ora 5—these are four models. Ora 5 was launched in December 2025; it is the brand’s first pure-electric compact SUV, with a price range of 99,800-133.8k yuan, and a limited-time trade-in replacement price of 91,800-125.8k yuan. From the sales performance over the first two months of this year, Ora 5 sold 1,220 units and 621 units respectively, showing relatively average performance.
In March, the brand within Great Wall Motor that recorded the highest year-over-year increase was still WEY. In March, WEY sold 7,751 vehicles, up 65.80% year over year. WEY models on sale include Lanshan, Gaoshan, Mocha, and others. The first two are the main drivers of WEY’s sales. As of the end of March, WEY’s cumulative sales for the first quarter totaled 21,239 vehicles, up 59.39% year over year. According to its plan, within the year, WEY will launch a new all-new luxury flagship SUV—WEY V9X. The new vehicle is built based on the first high-end technology sequence of the Guiyuan platform, Guiyuan S. It is positioned as an AI luxury six-seat SUV. In terms of power, it will be equipped with Great Wall’s in-house 1998 ml displacement engine, paired with Hive Energy 53.6/77.7 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese ternary lithium batteries. Its pure-electric ranges are 240 km and 363 km respectively.
The Haval brand is Great Wall Motor’s sales mainstay. In March, it sold 57,021 vehicles, up 8.13% year over year; in the first quarter, cumulative sales were 151,194 vehicles, up 4.57% year over year, accounting for 56.18% of Great Wall Motor’s total sales. Haval models on sale include Haval H6, Haval Big Dog, Haval Menglong, Haval H9, Haval H5, Haval Second-Gen Big Dog PHEV, Haval M6, Haval Xiaolong MAX, Haval H6L, and others. In addition, within the year, the Haval brand will also launch Haval Menglong PLUS. The new vehicle is positioned as a 7-seat plug-in hybrid SUV, with length/width/height of 4792 (4912)/1950/1886 (1905) mm and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. In terms of power, it will be equipped with a 1.5T engine plus a Hi4 plug-in hybrid system, with maximum engine power of 115 kW. Besides that, today Great Wall Motor Chairman Wei Jianjun announced that Haval will launch a new flagship product and solicit name suggestions online from friends and followers.
In March, the Tank brand sold 18,316 vehicles, up 5.38% year over year; in the first quarter, cumulative sales were 42,857 vehicles, up 2.07% year over year. The Tank brand currently has Tank 300, Tank 400, Tank 500, and Tank 700 models already on the market. Of these, the all-new Tank 700 started pre-sales on March 30, with the all-new Tank 700 Hi4-T having a starting pre-sale price of 518k yuan, and the all-new Tank 700 Hi4-Z having a starting pre-sale price of 438,000-478k yuan. The exterior designs of the all-new Tank 700 Hi4-T and the all-new Tank 700 Hi4-Z are basically consistent. Their dimensions are 5,105/2,061/1,985 mm, and their wheelbase is 3,000 mm. In terms of power, the former is equipped with a 3.0T plug-in hybrid powertrain; the system’s combined maximum power is 395 kW. It comes with a 37.1 kWh battery, and WLTC pure-electric range is 90 km. The latter is equipped with a 2.0T plug-in hybrid powertrain; the system’s combined maximum power is 635 kW. It comes with a 59.05 kWh battery, and WLTC pure-electric range is 190 km.
Aside from the above brands, Great Wall Pickup sold 20,450 vehicles in March, up 0.14% year over year; its cumulative sales for the first quarter were 47,811 vehicles, down 4.39% year over year.
According to the plan, Great Wall Motor’s 2026 sales target is no less than 1.8 million vehicles, including 1.2 million domestically and 600k overseas. As more products are launched, whether Great Wall Motor can achieve its annual sales target on schedule remains to be seen.
