Have you ever wondered how much money there is in the world? Actually, this question is more complicated than it seems. Because the answer varies completely depending on the definition of money.
In physical form, (coins and banknotes) circulate around $6.6 trillion worldwide. But this is just the beginning. When you include money stored in bank accounts, liquid assets, and all financial instruments, the total money supply reaches $37 trillion. That’s the simple answer to the question of how much money is in the world.
However, when you consider cryptocurrencies, investment assets, and derivative products, the numbers grow even larger. Just within these categories, the value exceeds $1.2 quadrillion. As the financial system becomes this vast, it becomes impossible to measure the actual amount of money precisely.
That’s why I wonder: with so much money in the world, why do we all feel poor? 🫣 Because most of the wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few people. For the billions of others, the question of how much money is in the world remains just a theoretical fact. Bitcoin and crypto systems exist to break this inequality. At least, it’s good to remember that.
