On March 31, South China University of Technology released its 2026 comprehensive evaluation admissions policy.

In 2026, Gaokao applicants can apply to South China University of Technology through three routes: the Strong Foundation Program, comprehensive evaluation, and the regular batch.

Among them, South China University of Technology continues to implement comprehensive evaluation admissions in five provincial-level areas—Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai, and Zhejiang—covering a total of 500 enrollment slots.

Comprehensive evaluation admissions follow a “631” model, meaning Gaokao scores account for 60%, the school’s evaluation scores account for 30%, and students’ high school academic proficiency scores account for 10%.

South China University of Technology’s comprehensive evaluation admissions were first implemented in 2021, and overall application enthusiasm has continued to rise.

According to the university’s admissions office, this year’s comprehensive evaluation admissions application will close around May 7; applicants who are interested in participating in the comprehensive evaluation should log in to the “China Higher Education Special Types of Enrollment Information Service Platform” (

This year’s admissions policy has four new changes.

This year, South China University of Technology’s comprehensive evaluation admissions are undergoing systematic optimization.

First, the B-category track will be removed for registration.

Second, subject-competition awards and similar items will no longer serve as a standalone entry threshold.

Third, the content and scoring methods for the school’s written test (computer-based test) and interview are optimized.

The computer-based test has a full score of 150, the interview has a full score of 100.

The school’s evaluation total score will be used to participate in the conversion based on 250 points, making the evaluation orientation clearer and talent selection more precise.

Fourth, the “Soft Matter Science and Engineering” program is upgraded to a demonstration class, paving a solid pathway for students to directly pursue further studies and advanced training.

According to the introduction, applicants who pass the initial screening will participate in the school’s computer-based test.

After passing the computer-based test, they will also take an interview.

The computer-based test focuses on assessing subject fundamentals, while the interview emphasizes evaluating overall qualities.

According to the admissions office of South China University of Technology, the school uses a “multi-panel, one-on-one” interview format and applies a “three-random” draw principle, ensuring the process is fair, impartial, and fully transparent.

To provide maximum convenience to applicants, candidates within Guangdong Province conduct the computer-based test and interview offline, while applicants from the other four provinces and cities can do so via online methods.

Over 80% go on to pursue further studies at well-known universities at home and abroad

This year, South China University of Technology’s comprehensive evaluation admissions offer nine cutting-edge new engineering majors to choose from, including Robotics Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Microelectronic Science and Engineering, Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Soft Matter Science and Engineering, and Intelligent Marine Equipment.

In addition, after entering the university, students will have four opportunities to apply for a change of major.

Data show that, for the 2025 cohort of comprehensive evaluation program graduates of South China University of Technology, the rate of further study within China is 30.26%, and the rate of further study abroad is 52.25%.

The overall rate of落实(destination)for graduate plans is as high as 98.82%.
