Trump appoints Blanc, author of the crypto enforcement memo, as Acting Attorney General
Deep Tide TechFlow report, April 3, according to CoinDesk, President Donald Trump of the United States dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi and appointed former private attorney and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche as Acting Attorney General.
Previously, while serving as Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche dissolved the Department of Justice’s National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET) and signed a memorandum instructing prosecutors to cease pursuing regulatory violations in the cryptocurrency industry. This memorandum was cited by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in the case against Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, which ultimately resulted in one of the charges being dropped.
Notably, as revealed by ProPublica, when Blanche signed that cryptocurrency enforcement memorandum, he still held crypto assets valued at approximately $159,000 to $485,000 (including BTC, ETH, SOL, ADA, etc.), allegedly violating ethical rules and his previous pledge to divest assets before handling cryptocurrency-related matters. His latest government ethics disclosure shows that he has transferred these crypto assets to his children and grandchildren.
