Wenzhou Net News: How sweet online dating can be—how bitter fraud can be. Recently, a city resident surnamed Li (a pseudonym) thought he had met a “heaven-sent girlfriend” online. Not only was she gentle and considerate, but she also asked him to manage her stock account, promising they could make big money together. Little did he know that from “darling” to “suspect in a case,” it was only one 100,000-yuan fraud trap.

Recently, the Tengqiao Police Station of the Lucheng Public Security Branch received an emergency anti-fraud alert from the anti-fraud center. Li was withdrawing 100,000 yuan from the bank, suspected to be a scam. An anti-fraud officer immediately rushed to Li’s company to conduct prevention and intervention. However, when questioned, Li was hesitant and refused to reveal the truth. To prevent Li’s assets from being lost, the police decided to take him back to the station for further communication and verification.

After patient persuasion, Li finally explained the situation. Previously, he had met a “gentle and considerate” online person on the “Heart-Moving Daily” app. The two quickly established a romantic relationship. After some time, this “girlfriend” proactively suggested she had a stock account and asked Li to help manage and operate it. Unable to refuse her sincerity, Li followed her instructions and downloaded an app called “Huicai Excellence,” completing the so-called stock trading process step by step.

Just when Li thought he was about to profit, an unexpected incident occurred. The app suddenly displayed a message claiming that he was “suspected of insider trading,” and that a case had been filed for investigation. It demanded that he immediately pay a 100,000-yuan deposit to hedge and clear himself of suspicion. The sudden “accusation” caused Li to panic. He believed it completely and hurried to the bank to withdraw 100,000 yuan, planning to hand it over to the other party to “prove his innocence.”

After a day of repeated analysis, case breakdowns, and legal education publicity by the police, Li finally realized the truth. He exclaimed, “It was a trap from start to finish! If the police hadn’t been so persistent, my 100,000 yuan would have been lost for good!”
