Reporters learned from Cainiao that in 2026 Cainiao will build a large-scale network of robotic warehouses in key markets such as Hong Kong, the United States, and Europe, to support local fulfillment and delivery for cross-border e-commerce platforms and cross-border merchants worldwide. Under the plan, these automated warehouses will be located in places including Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Germany, and the United States, and will mainly use Cainiao’s in-house, next-generation warehousing robots and AI dispatching systems. Unlike traditional automated warehouses, the new robotic warehouses will have higher storage density, while also improving operational timeliness. “With the arrival of the AI era, we are stepping up efforts to apply AI technology and robotics technology to our global supply chain network, enhancing the customer experience.” Shu Yong, vice president of Cainiao and general manager of the Global Supply Chain business unit, said the company aims to significantly improve coverage of next-day and two-day delivery services for warehouses in these regions.
