Romanian lawmakers on the 11th approved a letter submitted by President Daun, allowing the United States to temporarily deploy military equipment and troops in the country. According to Romania’s national news agency, the deployment plan is expected to last about 90 days and involve approximately 400 to 500 U.S. military personnel, who will be stationed at the Mihail-Kogălniceanu Air Force Base in eastern Romania and the Câmpia Turzii Air Force Base in the central region. At a press conference, Daun said that the aircraft tankers, surveillance equipment, and satellite communications equipment involved in the plan are all defensive military equipment and are not equipped with live ammunition. He said that such cooperation is a routine operation among NATO member states, and that the related deployments will help enhance Romania’s national security level and reassure the public about national security, with no need for concern. It is understood that this deployment was carried out at the request of the United States and is related to the current situation in the Middle East.
