OpenAI acquires TBPN to strengthen AI dialogue and dissemination capabilities
Investing.com – On Thursday, OpenAI announced that it has acquired TBPN, a media organization focused on artificial intelligence and technology news.
Fidji Simo, CEO of OpenAI’s app business, said the acquisition brings a team with editorial expertise, audience insights, and experience in assembling influential voices across the technology, business, and culture sectors.
TBPN will operate within OpenAI’s strategic organization and report to Chris Lehane. The acquisition includes co-founder and co-host Jordi Hays, as well as co-hosts John and Dylan and their team.
Simo said TBPN will maintain editorial independence, continue running the show, selecting guests, and making editorial decisions without interference. She added that the team will also contribute marketing and communications expertise to help OpenAI explain AI technology to users.
In the past year, TBPN has been covering developments in the AI industry, including daily news and product launches. Hays said the team is sometimes critical of the industry, but was impressed by OpenAI’s willingness to accept feedback.
Simo said the acquisition is intended to create space for discussing AI change, with technology builders and users at the center of the conversation.
