The number of private residential completions continues to decline. The Rating and Valuation Department estimates that this year the number of private residential completions will be 16,975 units, down about 8% year-on-year. Next year it will further drop to 15,362 units, marking three consecutive years of decline and a new low in four years. In recent years, the area around Kowloon City—where a number of large new developments have been completed—will become a major supply hub in the coming two years, with 6,957 units completed, accounting for about 21.5% of total supply over the two years.
