The Solana Foundation states that its network is being positioned as core infrastructure for the "agentic" internet—a model where AI systems lead the initiation and execution of economic activities. To date, Solana has processed approximately 15 million on-chain AI agent payments, primarily for machine-to-machine transactions, with stablecoins becoming the default payment method for related computational resources and services. According to Solana, based on the characteristics of programmatic payments, AI agents can support pay-as-you-go transactions at sub-cent levels, thereby transforming the internet's monetization model.
