Meta Quest 4 Headset Thumbnail Unexpectedly Appears in System Firmware: Nose Rest Supports Manual Adjustment, Eye Tracking Expected to Be Added
IT House, February 27 — Data miners Luna and Samulia unexpectedly discovered a very low-resolution 3D side view of a headset and a silhouette of the headset in the latest Meta Quest firmware.
Since the depicted headset differs from any current Meta product, the general consensus is that this is the Quest 4 headset codenamed “Phoenix.” Additionally, from these two images, it appears that the Quest 4’s nasal pad supports manual adjustment, which may help reduce light leakage.
Referring to previous reports, the Quest 4 headset is expected to introduce eye-tracking functionality to enable interaction similar to Apple’s Vision Pro. In fact, Meta has recently made significant UI improvements to its Horizon OS for Quest, which now resembles visionOS.
