On March 25, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, had a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan upon request.

Wang Yi stated that the right and wrong of the Middle East conflict are very clear, and the international community needs to maintain an objective and fair stance on this issue. Currently, the conflict is rapidly spilling over and spreading throughout the region. The urgent task is to actively promote peace talks, seize the opportunity for peace, and push for an end to the fighting. China supports regional countries in remaining calm, responding rationally from long-term and fundamental interests, and resolving differences through dialogue. China also supports Turkey in playing a constructive role in promoting the resumption of negotiations.

Fidan said that regarding the current situation in the Middle East, Turkey’s position is highly consistent with China’s. Both oppose military strikes without UN Security Council authorization and oppose further spillover of the conflict. China has been committed to maintaining regional and global peace and believes that China will continue to play an important role. Turkey is willing to work with China to promote a ceasefire and end the war, returning the world to the path of peace and development.

The two sides also exchanged views on other regional issues.

On March 25, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, had a phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdel-Aty upon request.

Abdel-Aty shared his views on the development of the regional situation, expressing Egypt’s deep concern about the current situation, especially the paralysis of energy and power facilities if attacked, which could plunge the entire region into chaos. To de-escalate the situation, Egypt is communicating with all parties and actively promoting negotiations. Egypt and China are comprehensive strategic partners, and Egypt is willing to maintain close coordination with China, jointly strengthening diplomatic efforts to prevent regional and global instability.

Wang Yi said that China and Egypt are responsible major countries, both oppose military actions without UN Security Council authorization, oppose attacks on civilians and civilian facilities, and do not support spillover into Gulf countries. The situation in the Middle East is changing rapidly, with the US and Iran both sending signals for negotiations, and a glimmer of peace appearing. If the war continues, it will only cause more casualties and unnecessary losses, leading to further spillover. The international community should actively promote dialogue among the parties involved in the conflict; as long as talks are initiated, there is hope for peace. The Security Council’s actions should help ease the situation and promote dialogue, preventing the conflict from expanding, rather than giving a green light for the use of force. China supports Egypt in continuing to play a mediating role, promoting the resumption of negotiations and stopping the war. China is also willing to make constructive efforts toward this goal.
