QS, the international higher education organization, announced the 2026 World University Subject Rankings. Hong Kong universities have a total of 266 subjects listed, with 5 subjects ranking in the top 10 globally. The Education Bureau believes this demonstrates Hong Kong’s higher education being widely recognized internationally.

Among them, the University of Hong Kong’s Dentistry program ranked second, HKU’s Education and Training program ranked fifth, the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Nursing program ranked sixth, the Education University’s Education program rose to seventh place worldwide, and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ Performing Arts ranking was tenth.

The Education Bureau stated that the SAR government has long been steadfast in supporting higher education. Over the past few years, the government has continuously and steadily invested resources through the University Grants Committee, while promoting internationalization, interdisciplinary collaboration, and industry-university-research integration, helping Hong Kong institutions maintain a competitive edge globally.

The Education Bureau will continue to leverage the advantages of diversification and internationalization, fully support universities in expanding international exchanges, and actively promote the “Study in Hong Kong” brand worldwide, providing the strongest support for Hong Kong’s development as a hub for high-end talent.
