Vitalik Buterin introduced a scaled Ethereum architecture for upcoming updates
Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, has revealed an ambitious plan to upgrade the protocol aimed at significantly increasing network throughput and efficiency. According to information from NS3.AI, his proposed roadmap is divided into two development phases: current improvements and long-term expansion. This approach will allow the network architecture to adapt to growing user demands and transaction volumes.
Current Enhancement Phase: Glamsterdam Upgrade
The upcoming development phase, called Glamsterdam, will include several key innovations. Vitalik Buterin and the development team plan to implement block-level access lists to improve data management and speed up validation. Simultaneously, they plan to introduce ePBS (encrypted proposer-builder separation), which will enhance security and fairness in MEV distribution. The third component—multidimensional gas management—will redistribute resources among different types of operations, optimizing the use of the network’s computational power. All these measures aim to improve overall execution efficiency and control blockchain state growth.
Long-Term Strategy: Expansion via Blob Protocol
According to the plan developed under Vitalik Buterin’s leadership, further scaling of Ethereum will rely on a significant increase in data storage capacity. The system will utilize a blob protocol—a special mechanism for temporarily storing large volumes of data accessible to Layer 2 solutions. This expansion will allow network layers to scale without overloading the main blockchain, maintaining decentralization and security. The long-term strategy involves gradually increasing capacity to adapt to network demands and technological advancements.
