Ministry of Foreign Affairs: If the Middle East conflict continues to escalate, the entire region will fall into an irretrievable situation.

On March 23, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin hosted a routine press conference.

Foreign Ministry: If the conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate, the entire region will fall into an uncontrollable situation

In response to the U.S. demand for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours or face attacks on “various power plants” and destruction, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at the regular press conference that the flames of war in the Middle East are still spreading outward. If the conflict continues to escalate and the situation worsens, the entire region will fall into an uncontrollable situation.

Wang Wenbin stated that violence only leads to a vicious cycle. China strongly urges the parties involved to immediately cease military actions and return to dialogue and negotiations, so that this war, which should never have started, does not continue.

Foreign Ministry: Maintaining communication with all parties on the current situation and working to promote de-escalation

A reporter asked whether China’s previous request for Iran to protect Chinese institutions and personnel also includes ensuring the safety of Chinese ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Wang Wenbin said that China once again calls on all parties to immediately stop military actions, avoid further escalation of tense situations, and prevent regional instability from causing greater impacts on global economic development. We are also maintaining communication with all parties regarding the current situation and are committed to promoting de-escalation.
