Hong Kong's Financial Secretary Paul Chan: Beijing Trip

These days, I am visiting Beijing, where I have had in-depth discussions with multiple central ministries and financial regulatory agencies about the macroeconomic situation, the current state and development of the financial markets, and how Hong Kong can better play its role during the new stage of the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan. This visit has allowed us to gain a more direct understanding of the country’s development directions and key areas, as well as the ideas and considerations behind them. It provides important guidance and reference for us to promote Hong Kong’s better alignment with national development strategies, integrate into and serve the overall national development, and achieve high-quality growth.

Xia Baolong, Director of the Central Office for Hong Kong and Macau Affairs and Director of the State Council Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, is very concerned about and supportive of Hong Kong’s development, and has provided important guidance on Hong Kong’s proactive alignment with the 14th Five-Year Plan. The country’s ministries and financial regulatory agencies also attach great importance to Hong Kong’s unique functions and active role in building a strong financial nation, and have consistently provided strong support.
