On March 20, the State Administration for Market Regulation held a routine press conference for the first quarter of 2026. During the meeting, Wang Qiuping, spokesperson for the State Administration for Market Regulation and Director of the Department of News and Publicity, stated that in response to illegal issues in the market regulation field exposed during the “3.15” evening gala, the administration quickly deployed measures, investigated and handled cases strictly and swiftly according to law, and conducted interviews and supervision with relevant local governments and market regulation departments to firmly safeguard consumers’ legal rights and interests. Currently, all enforcement actions have achieved the following phased progress:

• In response to the issue of “bleached chicken feet,” the administration organized a special task force to conduct surprise inspections of the involved companies, sealing 27 barrels of hydrogen peroxide (commonly known as “double oxygen water”) and 551 boxes of chicken feet products on site.

• Regarding the problem of “the ‘all-purpose’ exosomes,” the relevant local drug supervision departments, in cooperation with health, market regulation, and public security departments, formed inspection teams to confiscate related exosome products on site. Currently, four involved companies, three medical aesthetic institutions, and medical institutions have been legally investigated.

• Concerning the issue of “height-increasing marketing tricks,” local market regulation departments, together with public security and health departments, carried out investigations and handling, filing cases against 11 business entities, with related products being sampled for testing.

• For the problem of “the mystery of experts in private domain marketing,” local market regulation departments, in cooperation with public security and other departments, conducted on-site inspections and collected electronic data and key evidence from involved companies, including false course lectures.

• Regarding the “rampant rental electric bicycles” issue, local market regulation departments, together with transportation and public security departments, conducted on-site inspections, collected rental contracts and live broadcast electronic data from involved operators, secured evidence such as bicycle license plates and driving licenses, and urged platforms to shut down illegal accounts.

• Concerning “who is ‘poisoning’ AI,” local market regulation departments, in cooperation with public security, conducted on-site investigations of involved companies, and the public security department has already initiated an investigation.

Wang Qiuping stated that moving forward, the State Administration for Market Regulation will continue to work with relevant departments to thoroughly investigate and crack down on illegal activities as soon as they are discovered. The market regulation authorities will take concrete actions to respond to societal concerns and strengthen the safety net for consumers. (Hao Shuai)
