Phoenix Technology News Beijing Time, March 21 — According to Business Insider, a U.S. federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by Annie Altman, sister of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. In the lawsuit, she accused her brother of sexual abuse during childhood.

Judge Zachary Bluestone of the U.S. District Court ruled on Friday that Annie Altman’s claims were filed too late to proceed with the lawsuit.

However, Bluestone left a glimmer of hope for Annie by allowing her to refile the lawsuit under Missouri’s specific “Child Sexual Abuse Law,” which extends the statute of limitations. The judge ordered her to submit a new complaint by April 3.

In the same ruling on Friday, the judge approved Sam’s counterclaim. The counterclaim accuses Annie of defamation and abuse of legal process.

Annie filed a lawsuit in January 2025 in a federal court in Missouri, alleging that Sam, nine years her senior, sexually abused her from 1997 to 2006, when they were growing up together in Clayton, Missouri, with the abuse starting when she was three years old.

Sam denies these allegations. After the lawsuit was filed, he and his two brothers and mother issued a public statement claiming that Annie has “mental health issues.”

In his counterclaim, Sam stated that his family refused his “unlimited financial support” due to concerns about her mental health, and that his sister fabricated the sexual abuse allegations, which were published on social media and included in the complaint. (Author: Xiao Yu)
