Has Simbu Sung A Song In Suriya's 'Karuppu'?

(MENAFN- IANS) Chennai, March 14 (IANS) If industry sources are to be believed, actor Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu, has sung a song in director R J Balaji’s highly anticipated upcoming action thriller ‘Karuppu’, starring actor Suriya in the lead role.

A photo of actor Silambarasan with the film’s music director Sai Abhyankar has now gone viral on social media. Sources say the picture was taken when Simbu arrived to record the song for the film.

Excitement about the film has grown after director R J Balaji recently announced that they will soon provide an update on the film’s release date.

Director R J Balaji recently posted a video clip denying rumors that ‘Karuppu’ would be released on April 10 this year.

In the clip, R J Balaji said, “I know many of Suriya sir’s fans are disappointed because of the long wait. I have been working on this for almost two years. So, your wait will be worth it. We have no intention of delaying. In a week to ten days, we will update you on the release date.”

He then dismissed the circulating rumors that the film would hit theaters on April 10.

“Definitely not on April 10. Let me tell you that now,” he said, as he continued driving his car.

Lightheartedly addressing the rumors, the actor-director said there were reports of fights between him and the producer, between the producer and the music director, and even within the producer’s team. Laughing off these rumors, he said, “I understand you’re disappointed because of the wait, but you’ll love the movie when it releases. I will be back with an update.”

A teaser released on Suriya’s birthday last year sparked excitement among fans.

The teaser begins with the deity of Karuppu being worshipped with chili powder, as a voice says, “It’s not a calm deity you worship with grace. If you pray sincerely and offer chillies, it’s a fierce deity that will deliver instant justice.”

The teaser introduces Suriya’s character, a lawyer named Saravanan, who also has another name—Karuppu.

The rest of the teaser indicates that the film will be a commercial entertainer packed with action sequences. Suriya is seen delivering several punch lines, such as, “Blast! My brother, this is our time. I’m going to give you all a beating.”

Actress Trisha plays the female lead, and the film also features Malayalam actors Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika, Tamil actors Yogi Babu, and cinematographer and actor Natty in key roles.

The film’s music is composed by young sensation Sai Abhyankar, with cinematography by GK Vishnu, known for his work in films like Vijay’s ‘Bigil’, ‘Jawan’, and ‘Mersal’.

R Kalaivanan is the editor, with Vikram Mor choreographing the stunts and Arun Venjaramoodu serving as art director.
