Wu Shuo learned that Michael David Coberg, a former deputy sheriff of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $127,000 in restitution for assisting a cryptocurrency scam operator in extorting business rivals and plotting false arrests. Prosecutors stated that the officer had assisted fraudster Adam Iza in forcing victims to transfer funds through armed threats, and conspired to lure another victim to Los Angeles for a fabricated drug arrest. The case was investigated by the FBI and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service.
