Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China actively mediates, Foreign Minister Wang Yi has spoken with multiple foreign ministers by phone, and Special Envoy Zhai Jun is traveling back and forth in the Middle East region.
On March 10th, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun hosted a routine press conference, during which a reporter asked about China’s policy stance on the current Middle East situation.
In response, Guo Jiakun stated that China is deeply concerned about the current tense situation in the Middle East. Recently, China has been actively mediating, with Foreign Minister Wang Yi holding phone calls with multiple foreign ministers to exchange in-depth views on the regional situation.
Guo Jiakun pointed out that China’s Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, Zhai Jun, is traveling back and forth in the region. Prolonged conflict and escalating clashes are not in anyone’s interest. China will continue to communicate with all relevant parties, including those involved in the conflict, strengthen mediation efforts, build consensus, and promote de-escalation and cooling of the situation.
