Cailian Press, March 10 (Editor: Hu Jiarong) Hong Kong stocks in the optical communications sector performed remarkably today. As of the latest report, Changfei Fiber Optic Cable (06869.HK) rose 11.25%, Converge Technology (01729.HK) increased 9.06%, and Cambridge Technology (06166.HK) gained 6.90%.

Market enthusiasm is resonating with the upcoming global industry event and the intensive deployment by leading companies.

The 2026 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC)—the top global event in optical communications and networking—will be held from March 15 to 19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The technical conference will kick off on the 15th, with the main exhibition opening from the 17th to the 19th.

This year’s conference focuses on three cutting-edge areas: AI-driven Giga-scale data center network architecture, air-core fiber ultra-low latency transmission technology, and inter-satellite laser communication systems. It has attracted participation from global tech giants such as Huawei, ZTE, and NVIDIA.

Additionally, the Central Economic Work Conference explicitly listed “Artificial Intelligence+” as a national strategic direction, with policy benefits continuously being released.

Zheng Ganjie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated at the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress on March 6 that efforts will be made to advance the construction of key areas such as the “Six Networks” and “Artificial Intelligence+” projects. The initial estimate of investment this year exceeds 7 trillion yuan; by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the AI-related industry scale is expected to grow to over 10 trillion yuan.

Multiple giants intensify their investments: technological breakthroughs and capital input drive growth

During MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Huawei announced next-generation all-optical network innovative products and solutions, highlighting the core role of optical networks in high-bandwidth, low-latency scenarios and strengthening market expectations for optical communication product upgrades.

Meanwhile, ZTE launched a modular cold-plate liquid-cooled CDU (Cooling Distribution Unit), marking a deep integration of liquid cooling technology into AI data center infrastructure to address heat dissipation challenges caused by high-density computing.

NVIDIA recently announced strategic multi-year partnerships with optical communication leaders Lumentum and Coherent, investing a total of $4 billion—$2 billion each—in advanced optical technology research and manufacturing. This move aims to strengthen the underlying interconnection capabilities of AI infrastructure and support its global deployment in accelerated computing.

Institutions focus on high-growth niche sectors and medium-to-long-term main lines

Wanlian Securities’ research report indicates that continuous investment by leading domestic and international companies will strongly promote the development of AI Data Centers (AIDC), optical interconnects, fiber optic cables, and liquid cooling, increasing technological penetration. In the short term, focus should be on: AIDC infrastructure, core optical communication devices and systems, and efficient liquid cooling solutions.

From a medium- to long-term perspective, the firm emphasizes the importance of focusing on the “AI computing power industry chain” and the “integrated space-ground communication network” as dual core main lines, and recommends deploying high-quality targets with technological barriers and growth certainty. The industry’s high prosperity is expected to deepen under policy guidance, technological breakthroughs, and global demand resonance.
