Hashem mulls Egypt's automotive expansion with General Motors

Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, met with representatives from General Motors to discuss the company’s current operations and future expansion plans in the country’s automotive sector. Hashem reiterated the government’s commitment to localizing the automotive industry, emphasizing its role in economic growth, job creation, and export enhancement. General Motors’ plant in 6th of October City, the largest in Egypt, has produced over a million vehicles by 2024 with investments exceeding $530 million, supporting over 1,300 jobs.
