Moscow strengthens Venezuela's defense against international pressures
Recently, Russian diplomacy took a firm stance regarding the situation in Venezuela. Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced direct communication between Foreign Minister Lavrov and Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, in which both nations reaffirmed their mutual commitment. The conversation highlights Moscow’s determination to maintain its support for Caracas amid increasing geopolitical tensions.
Dialogue Between Allied Powers
During the phone exchange in early January, Lavrov clearly stated Russia’s position: the country will continue providing comprehensive support to Venezuela in defending its national sovereignty and interests. According to official statements, the Russian foreign minister emphasized that Moscow remains solidary with the Venezuelan people, especially in the face of what he characterized as external aggression. This statement reflects the strategic commitment Russia has maintained with the Caribbean nation over the past years.
Vice President Rodríguez, in her role as Minister of Petroleum, also expressed Venezuela’s willingness to deepen ties with the Kremlin. Both delegations agreed to work together to prevent further escalation of conflicts and to seek solutions through diplomatic dialogue, an approach that contrasts with more confrontational stances.
Strengthening the Strategic Alliance
The exchange also allowed both nations to renew their commitment to the comprehensive strategic partnership that characterizes their relations. Russia and Venezuela have maintained multifaceted cooperation in areas ranging from energy to defense, and this communication reaffirms both governments’ willingness to strengthen these ties amid an increasingly fragmented international context.
The defense of national sovereignty thus emerges as a central axis in bilateral relations, demonstrating that Moscow and Caracas continue coordinating efforts to safeguard their mutual interests against external pressures.
