The United States plans to expand AI chip export controls to the global level; companies like Nvidia, AMD, and others will need approval for exports.

According to media reports citing sources, U.S. officials have drafted a regulation proposal to restrict the shipment of AI chips worldwide without U.S. approval. The bill would grant Washington broad authority to decide whether and under what conditions other countries can build facilities for training and operating AI models. The proposed regulation would require companies to obtain a license from the U.S. to export nearly all AI accelerators produced by companies like Nvidia and AMD. This would expand the current controls, which cover about 40 countries, to a global scale.
