Lowe’s has recently surpassed Home Depot in a key competitive metric, achieving a 1.3% comparable sales increase in Q4 2025 compared to Home Depot’s 0.3%. Despite this gain, Lowe’s CEO Marvin Ellison remains cautious due to “persistent volatility in the housing macro” and subdued consumer confidence, influencing big-ticket DIY projects. Both retailers are heavily investing in AI to enhance customer service and drive sales, with Lowe’s leading in consumer satisfaction according to a J.D. Power survey.
