India’s antitrust regulator, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), has fined Intel Corporation $3.3 million for imposing a discriminatory warranty policy on its boxed microprocessors in India. The policy, effective from April 25, 2016, limited warranty services to products purchased from authorized Indian distributors, which the CCI found to be discriminatory compared to Intel’s policies in other countries and to have negatively impacted Indian consumers and parallel importers. Intel has since discontinued the policy as of April 1, 2024, and is required to publicize this withdrawal.
