Live Nation, Ticketmaster Antitrust Lawsuit Can Go to Trial, but With Severe Restrictions on Feds' Case

A federal judge has permitted certain aspects of the antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation Entertainment and Ticketmaster to proceed to trial, specifically those concerning large amphitheaters and ticketing services. However, the judge dismissed claims related to artist promotion services for broad concert venues, stating the government’s market definitions were too wide and lacked sufficient economic evidence. This ruling narrows the scope but allows the core allegations of monopolization in certain sectors of the live music industry to be heard in court.
