Qiongzhou Strait sets new records in both departure frequency and transportation volume

According to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation, this year’s Spring Festival travel rush has set new records for both the number of departures and transportation volume across the Qiongzhou Strait. On February 3rd, the Hainan route reached 305 sailings, and on February 4th, the number of large vehicles entering and leaving the island reached 8,538 and 4,516 respectively, both breaking historical records. Since the start of the 2026 Spring Festival travel period, the peak flow of vehicles and passengers entering and leaving the island has continued to rise, with daily increases in new energy vehicle traffic exceeding 100% year-over-year. With coordinated efforts from all parties, several transportation indicators have reached new heights: the number of flights entering and leaving the island in the first three days of the Spring Festival travel period has remained above 300; on February 3rd (the second day of the Spring Festival travel rush), a total of 335 flights were operated, tying the historical record, with the Hainan route reaching 305 flights, breaking the single-day record. Traffic for various vehicle types has surged significantly, with large vehicles entering and leaving the island reaching 8,538 and 4,516 respectively on February 4th, breaking the single-day transportation record for Spring Festival travel. Relevant authorities remind that both the north and south shores of the Qiongzhou Strait implement strict vehicle reservation systems for crossing.
