The thinner your skin, the harder life gets

Have you noticed that those who live vibrantly all share a common trait: they don’t take themselves too seriously
They dare to speak incorrectly in public, try obviously doomed-to-fail things, refuse unreasonable demands, while you blush at a joke, lose sleep over a mistake, and give up countless opportunities out of fear of being laughed at
A sense of shame is the weakest point you are most easily exploited
Why can others easily manipulate you? Because you cooperate too much. Your blushing, your embarrassment, your nervousness all tell others, “I’m afraid of you, I care about your opinion, I can be controlled”
Human nature is like this—pick the soft spots
The more you show you care, the more others will use that as a weapon. When colleagues tease you, you feel embarrassed, and they get more excited. When the boss criticizes you publicly, you can’t lift your head. Next time, they’ll do the same
People with a strong sense of morality often struggle the most
Rules are set for everyone, but you insist on adding your own burdens. A casual remark from someone can keep you pondering for three days; a glance can make you self-reflect five times. You value others’ opinions more than the sky, forgetting to ask yourself, “Why should I live according to their views?”
In reality, few of those you admire are perfect
They stand on stage confidently, but behind the scenes, they’re sweating nervously. They make correct decisions, but have also botched countless projects. You think they’re gods, but actually, they just understood a simple truth earlier: go on stage first, then adjust
The truth of this world is that no one cares if you look bad or not; everyone only cares if they can benefit
You mess up your speech, the audience laughs and forgets; you make a mistake at work, colleagues gossip briefly and move on. Only you keep those moments engraved in your mind, replaying and tormenting yourself
The most ruthless way to break free from shame is to disillusion yourself
Disillusioning titles—CEO is just an employee, experts also make basic mistakes
Disillusioning halos—colleagues from prestigious schools still worry about mortgage payments
Disillusioning those on high—when they go home, they still get stressed over their kids’ homework
When you remove the filters, you realize everyone is pretty much the same—just trying to get by, just putting on a brave face. Why put yourself down and look up at them?
More importantly, you need to learn to fight back
When faced with sarcastic remarks, don’t just hold it in and hurt yourself. Respond confidently, let others know you’re not easy to mess with. When deliberately suppressed, don’t just think “let it go.” Fight for what’s right, stand your ground. If you step back, others will step in
Counterattacking isn’t to make enemies, but to draw clear boundaries and define your limits
Those who like to suppress others are inherently insecure. They seek validation by belittling others, prove themselves by controlling others. The more indifferent and calm you are, the more you reveal their inner emptiness
Finally, understand one thing: in this life, your only opponent is yourself—yesterday’s self
Comparing yourself to others is endless. Winning against others feels good, but losing to yourself is painful. The only real comparison is with yourself: today, be a little thicker-skinned than yesterday; today, dare to make more mistakes; today, care a little less than yesterday. That’s how you move upward
Shame is essentially a self-imposed lock; the key is always in your hand—whether you dare to open it or not
Starting today, try to live shamelessly—say what you want, do what you want, refuse who you want
As long as you don’t care, no one can really hurt you
