During the Spring Festival holiday, over 370,000 entries and exits were recorded at Baiyun Airport port, setting a new historical high for the same period
On February 22, coinciding with the peak of the Lunar New Year travel rush on the sixth day of the first lunar month, it also marked one month since the international services at Terminal 3 of Baiyun Airport were launched. The passenger flow at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport’s border entry and exit points remains high. According to the Baiyun Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station, as of 0:00 on February 22, during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday (from the 28th to the 6th), the total number of entry and exit travelers at Baiyun Airport exceeded 370,000, a 23.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025, setting a new record for the same period.
As the “new engine” of this year’s Spring Festival travel rush, since its transition on January 22, the number of international flights and passenger flow at Terminal 3 has steadily increased, fully releasing the hub’s capacity. According to statistics from Baiyun Border Inspection Station, during the one-month operation, more than 380,000 entry and exit inspections were conducted at Terminal 3, with over 2,200 international flights.
From the passenger flow trend, the overall pattern at Baiyun Airport’s border points during the Spring Festival continued to show the core characteristics of “steady growth, peak prominence, and concentrated return trips,” with multiple flows such as family reunions and inbound tourism overlapping. During the holiday, the outbound peak at the border was from February 9 to 15, while the inbound peak has been rising since February 22 and will continue until February 28. Regarding passenger structure, there is a “double growth” prosperity in the exchanges between Chinese and foreign travelers. During the Spring Festival, Baiyun Border Inspection Station inspected over 165,000 Chinese citizens entering the country, a 61.2% increase year-on-year; and over 34,000 foreigners entering, a 51.1% increase.
To cope with the sustained high passenger flow during the Spring Festival travel period, Baiyun Border Inspection Station relies on the achievements of “Smart Border Inspection,” utilizing artificial intelligence judgment platforms to proactively monitor flight passenger flow. They continue to implement a “funnel” graded guidance system, open verification channels in advance, and fully leverage the technological advantages of new-generation intelligent devices to further shorten inspection times. Additionally, they have deployed multilingual police officers and dialect-speaking service personnel to provide precise assistance to travelers, especially focusing on helping the elderly and children, ensuring “fast clearance, smooth travel, and warm service” to safeguard the safe and efficient passage of inbound and outbound travelers.
