European Central Bank Vice President Luis de Guindos stated that he has not seen any signs from Christine Lagarde indicating her plans to step down as ECB President. The Financial Times reported on Wednesday that Lagarde will leave before the end of her term in 2027 to allow the soon-to-be outgoing French President Macron to have a role in selecting her successor. The European Central Bank said that Lagarde is “fully focused on her mission,” but did not clarify whether she will serve the full term. “We have seen some reports,” Guindos said at an event in Valencia on Thursday. “But I haven’t received any indication from the President on this matter.” (Cailian Press)
