Mars Finance reports that according to Jintou Data, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget of the White House sent a memo to department heads on the same day, instructing those agencies with funds expiring at midnight to prepare for a government shutdown. These agencies include the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, State Department, Treasury Department, Department of Labor, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Education, Department of Transportation, and Department of Housing and Urban Development. Las Wot stated, “Given that Congress is clearly unable to complete its work before the appropriations expire, affected agencies should now implement an orderly shutdown plan. Employees should report to work on time, perform their next routine duties, and carry out an orderly shutdown. The government will continue to work with Congress to address the issues raised recently and complete the appropriations for fiscal year 2026. We hope this shutdown will not last too long.”
