Bitcoin self-custody has evolved again: real-time verification + new hardware—how it changes the long-term holding experience

【Crypto World】Many Bitcoin holders are pondering the same question: how can they manage their assets more securely on their own? Vault-type self-custody solutions have recently seen significant developments.

The new version upgrade introduces real-time video verification for withdrawals, adding an extra layer of manual oversight for each transaction. The hardware signing device has also been improved, with the Jade Plus experience being refined—making the operation process more intuitive and reducing unnecessary complicated steps. Additionally, a dedicated recovery assistant tool has been introduced, so in case of an emergency, the process of retrieving private keys is no longer a nightmare.

This combination primarily targets two types of users—individual investors seeking safer long-term holdings, and institutions looking for reliable self-custody solutions. Multi-factor verification plus usability improvements suggest that hardware wallets are moving toward a more mature direction.

Real-time video verification feels a bit redundant, are you still worried about transferring funds to yourself? Haha Self-custody is all about tinkering; if you don't tinker, it's not really self-custody. What’s the use of Jade Plus changing its UI? Key management will always be the most complex, don’t fool yourself. The recovery assistant tool is indeed a pain point; I've heard too many stories of losing keys before. By the way, how much does this set of solutions cost? Is it another rich people's game? Finally, someone is seriously working on making hardware wallets user-friendly. The previous ones really felt like IQ tests. Wait, is multi-factor authentication the same as multi-signature, or is it just another marketing buzzword?

Real-time video verification feels a bit redundant. Isn't the purpose of self-custody to have complete control? It ends up being just like centralized exchanges.

ah here we go again... "real-time video verification" sounds nice until you realize we've been through this cycle before. remember when mt. gox users thought their multi-sig setups were bulletproof? history doesn't repeat but it sure does rhyme, and this time it's just adding more complexity layers to the same old human error problem.

Real-time video verification sounds good, but it seems to add an extra step to the verification process. As a lazy person like me, I would just give up.

Real-time video verification sounds good, but I wonder if it will be laggy and slow again. --- Has Jade Plus really been optimized? I used it before, and it was so cumbersome I wanted to smash my phone. --- The recovery assistant tool is the real core; if you can't find the private key, it's game over. --- Multi-factor verification sounds reassuring, but it feels like it adds a few more steps, which is a bit annoying. --- It sounds nice, but the key is to see how the actual experience is. --- This is reliable for institutional use, but individual users might still prefer exchanges for convenience. --- Hard wallets are so mature, but I always feel like I'm disarming a bomb every time.
