The news can be seen on the Mindex website, which is the export center of Iran’s Ministry of Defense and claims to have clients in 35 countries. The company states that cryptocurrencies are a means of payment, with the virtual asset in question having been agreed upon in a previous contract.

Other payment methods include cash in Iranian rials, barter, or special credit.

The website offers for sale items ranging from ammunition and high-impact weapons such as rifles, machine guns, missiles, and even military vehicles like tanks. Prices are not displayed alongside the products.

The report indicates that this is one of the first cases of a country accepting cryptocurrencies as payment for military equipment.

Iran’s economic difficulties worsened in 2018 when U.S. President Donald Trump reimposed economic sanctions after withdrawing from an agreement with the Asian country on the nuclear program.

Additionally, in September of this year, the United Nations also reimposed sanctions against Iran a decade after easing restrictions. The reasons are also related to the entity accusing the country of not complying with the terms of the nuclear agreement.
