These investors tend to keep adding to their positions during downturns to lower their average cost, ultimately holding on tightly and not selling at all. This issue may sound simple, but it has a significant impact on the market. When a large amount of capital is locked in this way, it becomes very difficult for the market to complete an effective shakeout process. True shakeouts require sufficient liquidity and circulation of chips, but the presence of these investors directly disrupts this process. As a result, altcoins often remain directionless for a long time, repeatedly hitting a bottom within a range, leaving investors helplessly waiting.

This is the common problem of the dead-hold party—adding until bankruptcy and still not letting go. Getting caught once and averaging down; getting caught ten times and still averaging down—laughable. No wonder all those coins are dead; it's all due to this kind of stubborn holding. Exactly right, if liquidity is locked up, there's no hope. Instead of averaging down, it's better to learn to cut losses, really. I've seen a guy who kept adding until he had no pants left. This logic is clear—if the flow of chips doesn't move, the market gets stuck. Addiction to averaging down needs to be cured, or you'll lose everything. It's actually greed—hesitating to cut during a decline. Basically, it's gambler's mentality—buying more as it falls.
