When will the sell-off at 10 am New York time this week finally end? I think it's mainly the aftermath of the October crash—institutions being forced to sell after margin calls. That should be wrapping up soon.

The current issue is now shifted to year-end tax loss harvesting. Investors holding BTC or IBIT are mostly in the red, and many will sell losing positions at the end of the year to offset capital gains and reduce taxable income. This is a very practical arbitrage logic.

Looking further ahead, during the New Year transition, institutions will start rebalancing. With the new year's budget reset, funds will flow back into the market, and portfolios will need adjustments. The key date to watch for this is January 2nd, when many institutions' new funds will start entering the market.

The wave in October was indeed still tormenting people's hearts, but the tax collection and harvesting were even more ruthless. Retail investors are really being thoroughly exploited. Marked on January 2nd, just waiting for the institutions' New Year big gift package.

Tax loss harvesting, I really can't avoid this round. I have to cut at the end of the year.

Tsk, this tax wash trading logic is quite revealing. The end-of-year move is definitely a tactic used by the institutions.

The wave in October is indeed still being digested, but tax arbitrage is the real trap... I'm afraid there will be another round of cuts in these last few days of the year.

honestly the tax loss harvesting angle is where everyone's gonna get rekt... like yeah margin calls from october are clearing out but then you've got this whole army of retail just panic selling to offset their cap gains. classic mistake, learned this the hard way back in 2021. jan 2 is the real tell though, if institutions don't come through with fresh capital then we're just prolonging the pain.

The pits from October haven't been filled yet, and now they're coming with taxes to harvest the leeks. Truly seamless.

The blame-shifting in October took so long, are the institutions all hibernating? I'm tired of the end-of-year tax-loss harvesting routine; the real money is still waiting for that wave on January 2nd...
