#虚拟资产监管 Recently, the SEC issued a risk warning about crypto asset custody, with the core message: if you lose your private key, you can never recover it; if your assets are leaked, there's no way to save them.

This is very important for us hobbyists. Many newcomers store airdrops in hot wallets casually or take photos of their seed phrases and save them on their phones, which is a big mistake. Here are some practical tips:

**Cold wallets are the way to go** — If the airdropped tokens have real value, be sure to transfer them into a hardware wallet or cold storage. USB wallets, Ledger devices, and similar tools may be a bit inconvenient, but they drastically reduce the risk of hacking and cyberattacks to nearly zero.

**Be cautious with third-party custody** — Some exchanges or wallet service providers offer custody services. Before using them, check whether they are insured and how they handle hacker incidents. Don't risk storing your assets on platforms with issues just for convenience.

**Self-managed private keys = full responsibility** — If you choose to manage your private keys yourself, ensure your backup procedures and technical protections are solid. Multi-layer backups and offline storage are basic operations that must not be skipped.

Regulations are loosening, which is good news. But the security of your assets always depends on yourself. The ultimate goal of hobbyists is to turn airdrops into real profits, and protecting your private keys is protecting your gains.
