#迷因币ETF Eight years of trading cryptocurrencies, the most painful lesson
In 2017, during that wave, I almost earned enough to buy a Porsche. But what happened? I didn’t sell a single coin.
It’s all tears when I think about it. Back then, I set my sights on ADA, gradually building a position starting at 0.03U. In three months, it skyrocketed to 1.2U, and my account multiplied nearly 40 times. The first thing I did every morning was check how much my balance had increased, and I was so inflated I even looked up the address of a Porsche 4S dealership.
Then—ADA plummeted all the way down to 0.2U. I watched helplessly as my profits were swallowed up, and in the end, I had nothing left. The Porsche dream was shattered; I couldn’t even afford a used car.
At that moment, I realized a truth: being able to buy coins might depend on luck, but knowing when to sell—that’s real skill.
**The method I use now isn’t that complicated:**
When the coin price doubles, sell 30% to recover the principal. When it triples, sell another 30% to lock in most of the profits. For the remaining holdings, set a trailing stop-loss; if it retraces 15% from the peak, sell everything. That’s it. Greed harms people; only steady approach can ensure longevity.
And there’s an even more painful lesson—cutting losses.
Last month, I cut a position, and later that coin doubled in value. My friends laughed at me for being too conservative, but three months later, it went to zero. In the end, I was the one laughing.
Over the years, I’ve seen too many people make six-figure or seven-figure profits, only to lose everything in the end. Not because they don’t know how to read the charts, but because they refuse to sell, admit defeat, or cut losses.
That’s the difference.
