5 winners: Gate Year of the Horse New Year
Recently, DeFi lending leader Aave's founder Stani.eth released a grand vision, planning to channel trillions of dollars in assets into the Aave ecosystem over the next few decades and expand to millions of new on-chain users.
This is not just talk. Just look at Aave's performance this year. The protocol's peak net deposits reached $75 billion, with a total fee income of $885 million. In the entire DeFi lending market, Aave dominates — 52% of industry fee flows go to this protocol. The combined revenue of the top five competitors afterward does not match that of Aave alone.
In terms of asset size, Aave is already on par with the top 50 banks in the United States. What does this indicate? It shows that DeFi lending is no longer a niche innovation but a force truly shaking up the traditional financial landscape.
But Stani.eth's ambitions go beyond that. He announced three major strategic initiatives for next year.
First is the launch of Aave V4. This upgrade is not just a simple iteration but a complete overhaul of the infrastructure. V4 is designed to handle trillion-dollar fund flows, ensuring the protocol can maintain stable operation and liquidity supply regardless of the amount of capital involved.
Second is the Horizon ecosystem. This product line focuses on expanding application scenarios, extending Aave's lending capabilities to a broader range of users and asset classes.
The third plan points to new directions for ecosystem expansion and user growth.
If these goals are achieved, the landscape of DeFi lending could see a significant turning point.
