Solana Chairman Reveals: Why Do Institutions All Choose This Chain?

【Blockchain Rhythms】At the Solana Breakpoint 2025 conference, news was announced that Foundation Chair Lily Liu revealed several key developments.

First, on the policy front — Solana has become the first public chain to establish a policy research institute. The underlying logic is straightforward: now any institution must consider how to handle digital assets. And those institutions with real capital entering the market are choosing Solana.

Let’s see who they are. Western Union, which handles over $60 billion in remittances annually, has chosen it. Pfizer is even more impressive, with merchant payment volumes reaching $2 trillion, also betting on this chain. Other institutions? Many are following suit.

This year, the ETF sector has really exploded. The physically-backed Solana staking ETFs, which launched en masse six weeks ago, are now approaching $1 billion in assets under management. Interestingly, during the overall market downturn, funds have been flowing in for three consecutive weeks. In the US alone, six such products have been launched.

Another point of controversy — DAT (Decentralized Asset Treasury). Many believe this is just a short-term liquidity tool, but the Solana team doesn’t see it that way. Their logic is that since this chain enables enterprises to build both infrastructure and assets simultaneously, DAT should be a long-term player. Connecting Solana with the open market, building infrastructure, managing assets, offering a full suite of services — this is the ultimate goal in their eyes.

Quite interesting, institutional chain selection is like artifact appraisal — what really matters is whether the two scales of liquidity and security can be balanced. Solana's recent moves are somewhat similar to early digital art provenance work, treating the policy framework as the project's "ID card."

Giants like Western Union and Pfizer are coming in, which shows that institutions are really betting on Solana. This is no small matter.
