Energy dependency rate measures how much of an economy's energy needs come from imports. The calculation is straightforward: take net energy imports and divide by total available energy, then convert to a percentage. Essentially, it tells you what share of energy consumption relies on external sources rather than domestic production.

Simply put, it means how much a country relies on imported energy; the higher the number, the more difficult it is.

Relying on imported energy, to put it bluntly, is just being choked.

Simply put, it depends on how weak a country's energy self-sufficiency is and how deep its reliance on imports is.
