The Tragic and Suspicious End of a Crypto Prodigy: TT's Untimely Death at 30
I woke up today to absolutely gut-wrenching news. Tiantian Kullander - TT to those of us who knew him in the industry - died suddenly in his sleep at just 30 years old. I'm still processing this. A brilliant mind snuffed out without warning.
TT wasn't just another crypto entrepreneur. He was the beating heart of Amber Group, the Hong Kong-based digital asset company he co-founded. While the press release says he "passed peacefully," I can't help but wonder what really happened. Healthy 30-year-olds don't just die in their sleep without cause.
Before starting Amber, TT cut his teeth at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley - typical breeding grounds for those who eventually see through the traditional finance facade. In 2019, Forbes recognized his brilliance with their Under 30 acknowledgment. Big deal, right? The establishment giving a pat on the head to someone disrupting their system.
What's not being loudly discussed is how TT built something that threatened entrenched financial powers. KeeperDAO, his DeFi protocol, literally protected regular traders from the predatory bots that institutional players deploy. He was giving power back to retail investors - something that makes certain people very uncomfortable.
Arthur Cheong from DeFiance Capital called him "a good soul" on Twitter. Tom from Charm Finance said he was "one of the few people who gets crypto (and finance), and sets his heart on doing the right things."
I can't help but notice the timing. Another brilliant crypto mind gone at the height of his powers, leaving behind a wife and young son. The industry is dangerous now - not just financially but perhaps physically. When you challenge trillion-dollar industries, you make enemies.
TT poured everything into Amber Group, starting it as a side project in 2015 before going full-time in 2017. His colleagues described his "intellect, generosity, humility, diligence and creativity." But what happens to his vision now? Who benefits from his sudden absence?
The crypto community is in shock, but we need to ask harder questions. The old financial order doesn't surrender power willingly, and TT was helping build its replacement.
Rest in power, TT. Some of us won't stop questioning what really happened to you.
