Mastering Harmonic Patterns: Elite Traders' Secret Weapon 🚀
Elite traders hit nearly 79% win rates using harmonic patterns. Pretty impressive. These patterns help navigate market chaos, but they're tricky to learn. Once you get them though? Game-changer. Let's explore these mathematical formations that spot high-probability reversals 🔍
1️⃣ ABCD Pattern
Three legs, four points. Simple but powerful:
Trade it two ways:
2️⃣ Bat Pattern 🦇
Looks like a bat. Kind of funny. Scott Carney spotted this one back in 2001. It's basically ABCD with an extra Point X. Point B needs to retrace 50% of XA. CD must stretch 1.618-2.618 of BC. Never lower. Point D creates your trade zone.
3️⃣ Butterfly Pattern 🦋
Bryce Gilmore found this one. Four legs working together (XA, AB, BC, CD). The magic happens when Point B pulls back exactly 0.786 of XA. That's where you find potential reversals.
4️⃣ Crab Pattern 🦀
Scott Carney again. Same XA, AB, BC, CD structure. The key? The 1.618 extension of XA marks your trade zone. In bearish Crabs, price falls from X to A. Climbs gently. Dips slightly. Then shoots up to D.
5️⃣ Deep Sea Crab Pattern 🌊
A Crab variant. Point B must pull back exactly 0.886 of XA. Can't go past X. BC projection ranges from 2.24 to 3.618. Seems oddly specific.
6️⃣ Gartley Pattern
Old-school pattern from HM Gartley himself. Two main rules:
Most traders put stops at X. Take profits at C.
7️⃣ Shark Pattern 🦈
Carney strikes again. Five legs this time (O-X-A-B-X). Not entirely clear why it's called a shark. Three Fibonacci rules apply:
Enter at C. Take profit at D.
8️⃣ Three Drives Pattern 🔄
Rare find. Needs symmetry in price and time. Five points total: three drives (1,2,3) and two retracements (A,C). Third drive completion usually triggers reversal.
For bullish patterns:
Trading These Patterns 💰
Backtesting from 2025 shows bearish patterns win about 60% across markets. Risk-reward ratios hit around 3:1. Not bad. Higher timeframes work better than lower ones.
For finding these patterns, TradingView's scanner works well. MT5 has a good one too. Python fans can use TA-Lib.
These patterns basically nail the "buy low, sell high" idea. Low risk, high reward potential. Works in most markets. What's not to like? 🔥
