Sui Move Founder Analysis: Why It Is the Ideal Choice for Building Web3 Products

Interview with the Founder of Move Language: Why is Sui Move Suitable for Building Web3 Products?

Recently, we had a conversation with Sam Blackshear, the Chief Technology Officer of Mysten Labs and the founder of the Move programming language, to discuss his reasons for developing Sui Move, this new smart contract programming language, the scalability of Sui, and the advantages of decentralized technology for developers.

The following is a summary of the interview content:

The Essence of Programming Languages and the Birth of Move

Programming languages are essentially tools for explicit interaction with computers. Unlike natural languages, programming languages require precisely defined semantics. The Move language originated from the recognition of the shortcomings of existing smart contract languages, focusing on defining asset types and access control policies, providing a more suitable abstraction and tools for smart contract programming.

Features of Sui Move and its Advantages in Web3

Sui Move is a variant of Move that discards some restrictive designs from the original Move, making it more suitable for general Web3 application scenarios. Sui Move introduces an object-centric data model, simplifying asset handling logic and improving development efficiency. In addition, Sui Move supports programmable transaction blocks, allowing multiple operations to be completed in a single transaction, reducing gas fees, minimizing the number of approvals, and ensuring the atomicity of operations.

Development Experience of Sui Move

Developer feedback indicates that using Sui Move for development is more efficient and secure. For example, a DeFi project development team stated that they completed a project in two months using Sui Move, which would have originally taken eight months to complete using Solidity, and they have greater confidence in its security.

Sui's Scalability Design

The goal of Sui is to achieve horizontal scalability, which means increasing processing power by adding hardware facilities without being limited by a fixed upper limit. This design allows Sui to continuously scale with the increase in users while maintaining low latency.

The Potential of Decentralized Technology

Blockchain and cryptocurrency are essentially frictionless technologies that can eliminate certain barriers in financial transactions, application development, and data setup. They have the potential to enhance interoperability between different applications, allowing assets, data, and more to flow more freely between applications.

Future Development of Sui Move

The Sui Move team is working to improve language features to better support the iterative development of packages. They are also working to enhance the connection experience between Move and frontend code, making the entire application development process more efficient and secure.

It turns out that the Move that was not followed is hot again. I will continue to be a bystander.
